TAEAN, South Korea—Hankook tire testing is going bigger—and more technological—than ever before.
The Seoul, South Korea-based tire maker has opened a new proving ground, the largest in Asia according to Hankook Tire & Technology Co. Ltd. The Taean facility—which covers more than 13.5 million square feet—is as large as 125 combined soccer fields and features 13 test tracks, one of which is the largest in Asia, according to Hankook.
Hankook did not say how much it invested in the facility.
The facility, dubbed Hankook Technoring, will be instrumental in testing Hankook's next-generation products, including tires for electric vehicles ranging from supercars to trucks and buses, allowing speed tests to reach 155 mph.
