The Istanbul warehouse will allow for faster delivery of spare parts and increases the firm's sustainability, since transport routes will be shorter and more efficient, according to Freudenberg.
According to Freudenberg, CO2 emissions will be cut by about one-third, as products will be shipped from Germany to the Turkish warehouse by train.
The route previously was covered by trucks.
"Turkey is a pivotal market for Corteco, the aftermarket specialist from Freudenberg," Friedl said. "It hosts many customers from the independent aftermarket in both passenger car and heavy-duty vehicle sectors who appreciate the high-quality products.
"With the new warehouse, Corteco aims to be closer to its customers and further intensify its steadily growing position in Southeast Europe."
In addition to Turkey, Corteco said it will launch a sales office in Novi Sad, Serbia, to "strengthen customer relations there."
Serbian employees will serve customers from a variety of industries, management that formerly was done from Germany.
"The diversity and needs of our customers in Serbia are also growing steadily," Friedl said. "Our new representative office is responding to this demand and enhancing our local service, which is particularly important on a personnel level."
Corteco has a portfolio of more than 26,000 "OEM-quality" products in total, focusing on sealing and vibration control technologies, as well as cabin air filters.
"Being local offers immense benefits for our customers," said Michael Apfel, operations project manager in Europe at Corteco. "Turkish customers were previously supplied from Germany, but now the deliveries will come from the Istanbul warehouse, which is managed by our logistics partner Mars Logistics.
"This means that Turkish customers will get their orders much faster, after just a few days instead of the previous three or four weeks. We also handle the entire customs clearance process for our customers alongside our partner."
Freudenberg Sealing Technologies generated sales of about $2.65 billion in 2022 and employs approximately 13,500 people.
The company maintains four business areas: Seals and Vibration Control Technology; Nonwovens and Filtration; Household Products; and Specialties and Others.
