MORINDA, India—Freudenberg NOK Pvt. Ltd. is relocating its automotive seals production unit in Basma, India—in the northern state of Punjab—to Morinda in the same state.
The new unit in Morinda is set for operation in January 2025 and was officially inaugurated Oct. 15, said NOK Corp., a partner in the Freudenberg-NOK Sealing JV.
The facility will produce engine seals, valve stem seals, dust covers and O-rings for local Indian car makers, as well as Japanese, European and American manufacturers based in India.
Spanning an area of 13,000 square meters (about 140,000 square feet), the plant features automated equipment, which is expected to help the operation increase production by 10 percent compared to last year.
The plant's rooftop will be equipped with a 1.5MW solar power system and a rainwater harvesting system to enhance sustainability.
Freudenberg NOK operates two production sites in India: the one currently in Basma covering northern India, the other in Chennai to support demand in the south.
