CHANGSHU, China—Continental A.G. has opened a new production plant for automotive electronic suspension systems in eastern China.
The new factory covers more than 13,500 square meters and is the research and development as well as the production base for Continental's electronic suspension system in China.
The first phase has six production lines, manufacturing and assembling air suspension modules and air supply systems. At full capacity, it will produce 200,000 sets a year.
The electronic suspension system features a new intelligent bellow technology and automatically adjusts damper and suspension levels as well as vehicle height to different driving conditions and load changes.
The development and manufacturing of the systems will support growing trends such as electrification and intelligence in automotive markets.
"The Chinese market is one of the important growth engines of Continental's dynamic control system business," Matic Matthias, executive vice president of Conti's dynamic control system division, said in a news release.
Continental's orders and customers for electronic suspension systems in China has increased significantly in recent years, Matthias said, expressing his confidence in the plant's future.
