ULVILA, Finland—Cimcorp Group has completed an 85,000-sq.-ft. expansion at its Ulvila headquarters that nearly doubles the facility's footprint and increases production by more than 100 percent.
Investment details were not disclosed, but Cimcorp noted that it has plans to refurbish the previously existing building as well.
The project, begun in the summer of 2018, added about 61,400 square feet of factory space, and expanded research and development office space by about 23,700 square feet, according to a Cimcorp news release. The R&D team will move into the new building, which includes meeting rooms and quiet areas for individual work.
"Our expansion is much more than simply a new building," Cimcorp CEO Masatoshi Wakabayashi said in a statement. "The premises merely facilitate our growth. It is the people who work in the buildings that optimize their potential and make that growth a reality."
Cimcorp, in 2017, purchased land adjacent to the headquarters with the intention of expanding the facility for the growing company, which has seen its revenue more than double in the past four years.
"This investment marks an important step in the execution of our growth strategy," Wakabayashi said in a statement. "The building expansion will provide us with the much-needed space to continue expanding our product lines and solutions—which are in high demand—to better serve our customers with their intralogistics challenges."
Sales, Wakabayashi said, continue to grow for Cimcorp. This spring, he noted, the company received its largest order in the intralogistics market, worth about $132 million, from the Spanish grocery store chain Mercadona.
Part of Murata Machinery Ltd., Cimcorp is a supplier of turnkey automation for intralogistics, serving industries including tires, food and beverage, retail and E-commerce, among others.
