SANTO TIRSO, Portugal—Camac Tyres, a maker of tire for classic cars, has formed a division to serve the tire retreading and conveyor belt industries in Europe.
Called Camac Compounding, the new division will provide high-volume rubber compounds for retreads and conveyor belt applications, as well as other sectors, including construction and general industrial applications, parent group SPC Europe Ltd. said announced Dec. 5.
Set to start operations in 2025, the unit will leverage European customer compounder SPC's manufacturing technologies and expertise, particularly in regenerated and recycled rubber materials.
The division also will have access to laboratory facilities created by SPC's recent $21 million (€20 million) investment in Camac Tyres manufacturing and R&D capabilities, the United Kingdom-based compounder added.
Camac Compounding also will collaborate with SPC's research division Nova Form, which specializes in advanced rubber formulations, including elastomer recycling and performance enhancement.
Camac Compounding will "lead the industry in (providing) custom rubber mixing solutions for the tire retreading and conveyor belt sectors across Europe," said Paul Hallas, managing director of SPC Europe Ltd.
Utilizing SPC's experience, it is set to "deliver unique products (to) clients' rigorous specifications while significantly reducing environmental impact through innovative recycling and manufacturing techniques," Hallas added.
