The expansion, set for completion by the end of 2024's first quarter, will add 67,000 square feet to the existing 55,000-sq.-ft. facility. The project investment includes new equipment for twisting, a move that will increase fiber-twisting production capacity by 33 percent.
New treating equipment also will be added to support the production of BeaverLoc and RFL treating technologies.
"With the investment of this new technology, we will have the ability to produce single-end soft cords for the automotive and industrial markets," Mike Dubin, Beaver Manufacturing president and CEO, said in a statement. "We are looking forward to exploring opportunities to grow our business and expand into other markets."
These capabilities, when combined with a larger warehouse space and expanded product development and testing, will better position Beaver to serve customers with in-stock inventory.
"Since we opened our Mexico facility in 2018, we've become known as a reliable, high-quality source of supply for the automotive and industrial hose market as well as the oil and gas markets," Enrique Quirarte, general manager of Mexico and South America, said in a statement. "By more than doubling our facility and increasing our production capabilities dramatically, we're showing our commitment to this market."
Quirarte, who is leading the project in Mexico, noted that the global technical team will support the startup and commercialization of the new treating unit in Mexico, using best practices from its German and U.S. facilities.
Upon completion, the Mexico facility is expected to add 30 additional employees, bringing total employment to 60.
As with Beaver's other facilities, the Mexico unit has the certification for ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949.
