NAVARRETE, Spain—Avanzare Group, a leader in high performance rubber solutions and advanced materials, is moving into the U.S. with a new subsidiary after supplying Europe for over 50 years.
The Spanish manufacturing company is fully REACH compliant, officials said, and currently operates a warehouse in Baltimore with hopes for further expansion into America in the future.
The strategic move affords both the Spanish firm and the American rubber industry several new opportunities, according to Avanzare Innovacion Tecnologica CEO Julio Gomez Cordon. The group has also appointed Sergio Moriano Garcia as general manager of the new endeavor, it said. Garcia previously worked in Europe's plastic industry, including leadership roles at Avient Corp. and Domo Chemicals.
"(The) U.S. rubber industry represents a great opportunity for Avanzare and during this new phase (we) will focus on developing innovative products for this sector, supported by a strong management team," Cordon said. "Sergio and his team will be responsible for consolidating Avanzare's position as a key player in this market, which will be central to the company's growth strategy in the coming years."
The move "responds to Avanzare's interest in positioning itself as a benchmark in the rubber industry in North America," the company said. The company's American product line will include permanent antistatic additives, electrically conductive solutions and antiblooming agents, among others.
Avanzare customers also will have the crucial ability to circumvent possible issues that come with purchasing from other continents, especially following this year's presidential election.
"We are an alternative to China, (which) has high tariffs (of) 31.5 percent in the U.S. or higher," Business Development Manager Luis Rivas said. "…Avanzare can provide our customers with an option to products from a different region of the world that will be a partner to U.S. companies for many years to come."
