DUESSELDORF, Germany—Asahi Kasei Europe Europe recently relocated its office and R&D functions to its new base at Duesseldorf Harbor.
Asahi Kasei established its European headquarters at Seestern neighborhood of Duesseldorf in 2016 with the aim to expand its presence in the European automotive segment. A year later the group opened an R&D center nearby in Chempark Dormagen.
The new "C-View offices" at Duesseldorf Harbor consolidate all the sales, marketing and R&D activities.
Asahi Kasei Spandex Europe, a manufacturer of elastic fibers based in Chempark Dormagen, will not relocate to the new site.
"This relocation marks the next important milestone of Asahi Kasei's expansion on the European market," said Hideki Tsutsumi, managing director at Asahi Kasei Europe.
With Europe being "at the forefront of an evolution in the automotive industry" and a "forerunner in environmental topics," the consolidation of functions will enable fast response to changing demands, he added.
The new headquarters includes office spaces, a showroom for automotive materials and an R&D center, which will focus on various materials including engineering plastics and synthetic rubber.
"The new office spaces will further foster the cross-divisional communication within Asahi Kasei Europe, (and) cross organizational communication with other European Asahi Kasei Group companies," Tsutsumi added.
Asahi Kasei disclosed plans to move to Duesseldorf in 2019, with the expectation that the move would be completed in the second half of 2020.
