BOLTON, Ontario—LSR mold-maker Silcotech North America Inc. will look to new CEO Yogesh Chauhan to lead the Canadian firm going forward.
The appointment was effective April 7.
"Yogesh's commitment to innovation, operational excellence and sustainability continues to drive Silcotech's success in the precision silicone manufacturing industry," said Michael Maloney, president and cofounder of Silcotech.
Chauhan, a veteran of Silcotech since 2010, will oversee all executive functions, including operations, design, tooling, project management, supply chain and quality/regulatory affairs.
Maloney said Chauhan has "been instrumental in implementing operational efficiencies and establishing business improvements aligned with ISO 13485/9001/14001 standards and FDA regulatory systems."
He brings more than 25 years of experience to the CEO position.
"Chauhan has played a key role in driving innovation and operational excellence in the silicone manufacturing industry," Silcotech said in an April 7 release.
In particular, Chauhan spearheaded Silcotech's participation in a "GreenBiz" panel discussion, titled "Implementing GHG Reduction & Climate Resilience Projects."
Chauhan's appointment as CEO accompanies several other personnel moves for the LSR firm, including:
- Raphael Boettger, purchasing specialist: Boettger will provide purchasing support and assist with operational duties, including logistics, IT services, shipping coordination and infrastructure planning and implementation. He also will lead media production, advertising and marketing support and serve as a joint health and safety committee member;
- Manpreet Kaur, EHSQ: Kaur will lead operational processes and ensure compliance with ISO standards to maintain safety, quality and operational efficiency;
- Wei Li, quality manager: Li brings more than 22 years of manufacturing experience to her new role. She began at Silcotech 18 years ago and has worked as quality engineer, process development specialist and operations analyst;
- Shane Nixon, production manager: Nixon will oversee manufacturing processes to ensure quality during production of silicone components at Silcotech's manufacturing facility in Ontario. He also will be charged with supporting maintenance and overall efficiency of production processes; and
- Erin Laporte, project administration specialist: As part of the project management team, Laporte will help teams throughout the project life cycle, from initiation phase (request for quote) through prototyping and development until production.
Silcotech employs about 120 people and has about 32,000 square feet in Ontario, with about 10,000 square feet of that as warehouse space.
The company can do product development, prototyping, mass production and multi-shot silicone injection molding.
Fundamentally, Silcotech's expertise is in tooling. As communication with customers is key throughout the development process for a medical device, Silcotech has a defined, three-stage process, tooling benchmarks to reach during development.
"Silcotech's strength lies in our people—a diverse team of passionate visionaries and skilled innovators," Maloney said.
