AKRON—Smithers has added true polymer research experience to its Ohio team, as the testing, consulting and compliance firm hired Josh Guilliams as its next vice president of consultancy.
The hire was effective Feb. 17.

"Josh has the robust technical background needed to get our clients the answers they need. With his polymer expertise and his years of leadership experience, Josh embodies the Smithers commitment to accurate data, on time, with high touch."
Smithers said Guilliams will focus on complex projects and customer relationships, conducting in-depth interviews and testing on rubbers and polymers on behalf of clients.
Guilliams previously worked for Polymer Valley Chemicals Inc. as technical director and vice president of technical operations. He also worked for Hankook Tire, Eastman Chemical Co., Lanxess and Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations L.L.C.
The technical consulting team at Smithers conducts raw materials analysis and product reverse engineering, failure analysis and field performance predictions.
