BARBERTON, Ohio—The manufacturing subsidiary for R.D. Abbott Co. Inc., Novation Si, has named Steve Hersey as plant manager.
The hire, which took effect May 8, places Hersey in charge of silicone manufacturing at the Northeast Ohio facility, which R.D. Abbott purchased two years ago.
"Steve was involved in all aspects of the silicone business at Hexpol and successfully managed the transition of the company's silicones operations to a new location with significantly greater capabilities," said Bob Bradley, president of NovationSi. "With Steve's industry experience and commitment to doing the right things for people, we're confident he will be a strong asset to NovationSi."
Hersey officially joined NovationSi March 20 after serving as general manager for Hexpol Compounding in Akron, where he managed "substantial volume" growth.
Bradley noted that Hersey brings a veteran approach to silicone manufacturing, which he learned at Hexpol as a lead operator and later production supervisor.
He also worked at Portage Precision Polymers before it was acquired by Hexpol.
R.D. Abbott develops the material science, engineers the material and distributes elastomers for a range of industries.
