NOKIAN, Finland—Ex-Trelleborg Wheel Systems' top executive Paulo Pompei, named president and CEO of Nokian Tyres P.L.C. in mid-July, will assume those roles on Jan. 1.
Pompei, president of TWS for six years, succeeds Jukka Moisio, who will retire from the company in the end of 2024.
Jukka Hienonen, chair of Nokian's board of directors, said Pompei will lead the company as it seeks to generate more than $2 billion sales.
"He has delivered continuous growth and strong financial performance in his earlier positions," Hienonen said. "He also has a very strong international experience from the tire industry and a deep understanding of the markets in Central Europe and North America, which are the key growth markets for Nokian Tyres."
Hienonen also thanked Moisio for his work at Nokian, "during COVID-19 and through the consequences of the war in Ukraine, developing Nokian Tyres toward new growth."
The company's board made the announcement on Oct. 11.
Pompei was president of TWS from 2017 to 2023 and president of Yokohama TWS for the 18 months, since Yokohama acquired the TWS business from Trelleborg A.B.
Prior to his tenure as president of TWS, Pompei served in several leadership positions in the Trelleborg Group, including the president of the business unit, agricultural tires, from 2006-2017. He also worked at Pirelli & C. S.p.A.
