Parker Hannifin announces leadership changes in two operating groups

Two longtime Parker Hannifin Corp. executives who lead key operating units at the Mayfield Heights, Ohio-based maker of motion and control technologies are retiring at the end of the year.

The transition will be smooth, as their successors will start on Jan. 1, 2024.

Parker, on Oct. 30, announced that William R. “Skip” Bowman, vice president and president of the Fluid Connectors Group, and Roger S. Sherrard, VP and president of the Aerospace Group, will retire on Dec. 31 after 40 and 34 years, respectively, of work at the company.

Parker said its board of directors has elected Patrick M. Scott, currently VP of operations at the Aerospace Group, to succeed Bowman as vice president and president of the Fluid Connectors Group.

Meanwhile, Jay P. Reidy, who also has the title of VP of operations at the Aerospace Group, will succeed Sherrard as VP and president of the Aerospace Group.

Bowman joined Parker in 1983 as a manufacturing engineer and held engineering and operations roles of progressing responsibility at the Tube Fittings Division and Instrumentation Connectors Division. He has led the Fluid Connectors Group since 2022.

Sherrard joined Parker in 1989 as a field application engineer with the Compumotor Division. He rose throughout the ranks at Parker before being elected in 2012 to his current role leading the Aerospace Group.

“It’s not often you get to celebrate the achievements of two veteran leaders who both dedicated their entire careers to Parker’s growth and success,” said Jennifer Parmentier, Parker's CEO, in a statement.

Scott joined Parker in 2016 as general manager for the Fluid System Connectors Division. He was named VP of operations for the Aerospace Group in 2021 and has served as integration leader for Parker’s acquisition of Meggitt PLC since 2022. He earned a bachelor's degree in industrial and operations engineering from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Harvard University.

Reidy joined Parker in 2003 as a co-op trainee with the Automation Group and has been in his current role as VP of operations at the Aerospace Group since 2022. He holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Akron and an MBA from Ohio State University.

It has been a busy month for transitions at Parker.

Last Wednesday, Oct. 25, the company announced that its board had elected Parmentier, currently CEO and a director, as board chair effective Jan. 1. She will succeed Thomas L. Williams, executive chairman and the company's former CEO, who will retire on Dec. 31, as previously announced.

Parker also announced that Lee C. Banks, its vice chairman, president and a director, also will retire on Dec. 31, after 32 years with the company. Andrew D. Ross, currently chief operating officer, has been elected by the board as president and COO effective Jan 1.
