Patrick Cummings named Motion CFO

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Motion Industries Inc. has promoted Patrick Cummings, who joined the distributor of industrial maintenance and replacement parts in 2012, to chief financial officer and senior vice president.

The promotion is effective immediately.

"Patrick will become a vital part of the Motion executive team, leading Motion to achieve our financial goals in the coming years," Motion President Randy Breaux said in a statement. "His promotion is well deserved.

"It makes me extremely proud and happy that after a nationwide search, the Motion candidates proved to be the 'best in class,' which says a lot about Motion, our succession planning/process and our teammates."

Cummings started with Ernst & Young in 2006 after graduating from the University of Alabama. In 2011, he worked for Walter Energy as internal audit manager before joining Motion the next year.

With Motion, he served as U.S. Controller from 2014-19, then transitioned to vice president of financial planning and analysis, until he was asked to serve as interim CFO.

Greg Cook, Motion's previous CFO, moved to the U.S. Automotive Group at Genuine Parts Co. (also under Motion).

Cummings will report directly to Breaux and work in tandem with Bert Nappier, executive vice president and CFO of Genuine Parts, as well as with the CFOs of the other GPC business units worldwide.

Motion maintains annual net sales of about $8.4 billion from sales of its bearings; mechanical power transmission products; electrical and industrial automation components; hose, belting, and gaskets; hydraulic and pneumatic components; process pumps; industrial and safety products; seals and accessories; and material handling products and solutions.

Motion North America expanded its footprint in 2022 to include Kaman Distribution Group.
