ATLANTA—Kumho Tire Co. Inc. has promoted Yong-Sik Shin to a newly created role as head of its America Business Division, overseeing the company's three main businesses in North America.
Shin, who's been with Kumho in global sales positions for the past 11 years, will lead sales and overall operations for Kumho Tire USA Inc., Kumho Tire Canada and Kumho Tire Georgia, the U.S. manufacturing unit.
This restructuring will allow for better organization and communication within the internal efforts of Kumho Tire North America as a whole, the company said.
Shin's career with Kumho has included positions in international sales, marketing and logistics initiatives for both the OE and replacement markets. Most recently he was head of global sales for the Seoul, South Korea-based company.
"I am looking forward to making a positive impact on Kumho's presence in the U.S. so that we can bring our partners the best service and enhance our message of stability and dependability through a unified structure in North America," Shin said.
With estimated sales in 2018 of $2.33 billion, Kumho is considered the world's No. 16 tire maker. China's Qingdao Doublestar Group is Kumho's largest shareholder, with a 45 percent ownership stake.
