HOUSTON—The International Institute of Synthetic Rubber Producers has made two new appointments to its leadership team.
The trade association and publisher of the annual Worldwide Rubber Statistics collection has appointed Mariano Ramirez and Michael Ulbrich as technical, environmental and health manager, and sustainability adviser, respectively.
Ramirez has nearly four decades of experience in the synthetic rubber and plastics industries, the IISRP said in a statement. Before joining the IISRP, Ramirez worked for Negromex, Dynasol, Cascadia Resources, Protrade International and Resirene, gaining global exposure and experience working on multidisciplinary teams.
"Mariano has 37 years of experience in the synthetic rubber and plastics industries, profound applications knowledge of polymer thermoplastics, polymer modified asphalt, roofing, compounding, adhesives and sealants, coatings, plastics modification, impact modifiers, tires, industrial goods and rubber compounds," the IISRP said.
Along with Ramirez, Ulbrich, a longtime business management consultant and trainer, joined the institute as its sustainability adviser.
Ulbrich brings over 20 years of process industry experience to the job, He led Accenture's sustainability service team for numerous years before joining the IISRP, and has built a full portfolio of "B2B commercial excellence," according to the association.
He will focus on the drive for sustainable initiatives and navigating environmental challenges. "Michael's contribution will be essential in our mission of building a sustainable and eco-conscious industry."
The hirings follow closely the Sept 1 hiring of longtime IISRP official Roxanna Bauza Petrovic as the association's managing director and CEO, taking over for the now-retired Juan Ramon Salinas.
The Houston-based IISRP has over 60 corporate members that collectively produce 75 percent of the world's supply of synthetic rubber. The trade group has section offices in Milan, Tokyo and Beijing.
