Center for Polyurethanes Industry selects steering committee members

WASHINGTON—The American Chemistry Council's Center for the Polyurethanes Industry gathered April 18 for its annual steering committee meeting, selecting leaders from Huntsman Corp. and BASF to serve as chair and vice chair, respectively.

Huntsman's Pavneet Mumick was elected chair, a position he will maintain through 2024. BASF's Tobias Haber has been elected vice chair of CPI's steering committee.

Mumick succeeds Julia Rubino of Covestro L.L.C. as chair, "whose steady leadership was instrumental during these challenging past two years," according to the ACC.

Global vice president of technology and innovation for the polyurethanes division at Huntsman, Mumick also is a member of the segment's global strategic marketing council.

Haber is vice president for BASF Construction and Performance Materials in North America and a member of the executive leadership team for BASF Canada. Haber maintains responsibility for business in Canada, U.S. and Mexico.

"Our new steering committee leadership exemplifies the dedication, expertise and vision required to help with the continued success of CPI's mission of providing effective advocacy, outreach, and robust safety education and product stewardship programs," Lee Salamone, senior director for CPI, said in a statement. "I look forward to working with Pavneet and Tobias on advancing the industry's strategic direction."

According to the ACC, the polyurethane industry is an $89.3 billion enterprise and a key element of the U.S. economy for both jobs and innovation.
