Dick Gust reappointed to Department of Commerce committee

BOWIE, Md.—Since May 2021 Dick Gust has been providing the U.S. Department of Commerce with critical insights on waste management and recycling thanks to his extensive experience with scrap tire management and tire recycling.

And it turns out, that won't be changing any time soon.

Gust, CEO of the Tire Industry Association, has begun a second term on the U.S. Department of Commerce's Environmental Technologies Trade Advisory Committee. His latest appointment took effect Feb. 1 and continues until the committee's current charter expires on Aug. 24, 2024.

"I am honored to again be appointed to this important committee and to represent TIA, our members and the tire recycling industry," Gust said in a statement.

As part of the committee, Gust's insights help to inform "the development and administration of programs that will expand U.S. exports of environmental technologies, goods and services, and products that comply with U.S. environmental, safety and related requirements," TIA said.

Gust's experience is deeply rooted in the tire industry and his expertise comes on the scrap tire management side. He is known throughout the industry for his work at Liberty Tire where he served as director of government affairs and president of national account sales.

He also served as president of Lakin Environmental Industries, where he oversaw retreading, remanufacturing, scrap tire collection and scrap tire processing operations.
