AKRON — Goodyear has promoted 30-plus-year company veteran Ellis Jones to vice president and chief sustainability officer, a newly created position at the company.
Jones, who joined Goodyear in 1974 at the firm's tire factory in Gadsden, Ala., as assistant plant controller, will work closely with business leaders to integrate Goodyear's sustainability strategy into products, services and operating standards.
He also will lead projects that help enable Goodyear to achieve sustainable business outcomes with particular focus on our manufacturing footprint and advanced mobility.
"Sustainability has an increasingly important role in Goodyear's future, from the perspectives of our associates, our investors and our customers," Chris Helsel, senior vice president, global operations and chief technology officer, said.
"Ellis is the right leader to drive sustainability in our products, organization and across our manufacturing footprint to meet growing expectations."
Jones most recently was vice president, global environmental, health, safety and sustainability and business continuity. He also led race-tire manufacturing at Goodyear's Akron headquarters and has held various roles in finance, manufacturing, supply chain and marketing throughout his career.
