AKRON, Ohio—Tire giant Goodyear has named Don Metzelaar as its new senior vice president, global manufacturing and supply chain, effective Jan. 13.
Metzelaar brings over 30 years of experience with him to the role, company officials said. Goodyear CEO Mark Stewart said the appointment will be central to Goodyear's "go-forward" strategy throughout its wider business plan.
"With Don's proven record of developing, enhancing and leading global footprints, I'm confident his leadership will accelerate our manufacturing transformation and leverage our scale for operational efficiency and customer impact," Stewart said. "I'm happy to welcome him to Team Goodyear."
In his new position, Metzelaar will oversee Goodyear's global operations sector, officials said, which includes global and regional manufacturing, as well as supply chain and environmental concerns among other key areas.
Prior to joining the team at Goodyear, Metzelaar served as both chief manufacturing officer and global vice president at Chicago-based Johnson Controls International. He also held leadership positions at Whirlpool Corp., Honeywell International and Motorola.
