AKRON—When Michael R. Beck Jr. needed to find someone to take over as president of Polymer Valley Chemicals Inc. following the death of his son, he didn't need to look far.
On June 12, Beck announced that Ed Seeley had been promoted to president of the Akron-based mineral filler and specialty carbon black service provider. Seeley and Beck have known each other since early in their careers, and for the past decade Seeley has been Polymer Valley's vice president of technical sales, overseeing the company's sales staff and working to pioneer new markets for their product lines
Michael R. Beck III died Dec. 24 at University Hospitals' Seidman Cancer Center in Cleveland after battling an extended illness. He was 47.
"We are beyond thrilled that Mr. Seeley has agreed to take his exceptional leadership skills and vision for Polymer Valley Chemicals and apply them to our entire staff and operation," Beck Jr., owner and CEO. of Polymer Valley, said in a news release. " He has been an asset and key leader for our organization for a decade and is the right person at the right time for the top job.
"He's led us through some tough times, both on an industry/global level as well as challenges specific to us, and has put us in position to not only remain competitive but continue solid growth."
