WASHINGTON—After a decade at the helm of MEMA's Original Equipment Suppliers group, Julie Fream is stepping down.
"Julie is a deeply respected and influential champion for suppliers. In her role, she advanced the business interests of vehicle suppliers during some of the most challenging times the industry has faced," MEMA President and CEO Bill Long said in a statement. "The MEMA organization and its members greatly appreciate Julie's long-standing and positive leadership."
Fream, whose career in the automotive industry spans more than 40 years, will leave MEMA March 31 to pursue "broader opportunities of leadership and learning."
Collin Shaw has been named her successor and will assume the post as president and CEO of MEMA's Original Equipment Suppliers group on April 1.
To help ensure a smooth transition in leadership, Fream will remain in an advisory role for several months after she steps down.
"Shaw takes the helm of MEMA, Original Equipment Suppliers group at a critical time," the association said in a news release. "… In addition to the biggest technological advances in 100 years, the industry is adapting to threats to international free trade, economic concerns, significant regulatory shifts, and work force development initiatives."
