PHILADELPHIA, Pa.—Stockwell Elastomerics Inc. will "move into the next phase of its mission" with a transition in leadership from William Stockwell to Thomas S. Rimel, Jr., who was selected as company president.
Stockwell, who will remain as chairman and chief technical officer of the high-performance silicone rubber gasket and material solutions firm, said Rimel has more than 25 years of experience in the elastomer and related industries.
"With the addition of Tom Rimel to our leadership team, we move into the next phase of our mission to become America's leading provider of highly innovative gasketing, cushioning and sealing solutions to protect sensitive technology in extreme environments," Stockwell said. "Tom brings the expertise and experience that Stockwell Elastomerics needs to grow and succeed. I have every confidence he will lead the company well."
Rimel previously served as president of Dunmore Corp. for 25 years, a supplier of engineered films, foils, fabrics and adhesive products for technical applications. There, he worked to grow sales revenue in new markets and oversaw manufacturing improvements and business acquisitions as business development manager, chief operating officer, plant manager and process engineering manager.
He also has worked for DuPont, International Paper and Adhesives Research, Inc.
Stockwell said Stockwell Elastomerics, which hit the century mark in 2019, has become an employee stock ownership plan company and recently constructed a third building to boost capacity at its northeastern Pennsylvania campus.
"My goal has been for Stockwell Elastomerics to remain durable and independent, growing its business with strategic customers in our key markets and setting a standard for excellence in our industry," Stockwell said. "Keeping our business in Philadelphia, while building a high performance culture with our diverse mix of tenured and newer employees, has become a special passion in recent years of service to our mission. We are fortunate to have Tom join our company and lead us to greater heights of business excellence."
Rimel represents the first executive outside of the Stockwell family, who have seen their surname in the company's top spot since 1919—four generations of Stockwell presidents.
