LanzaTech hires Joseph Blasko as general counsel, corporate secretary

CHICAGO—LanzaTech NZ Inc., a carbon capture company that uses recycling technology "to heal nature with nature," has named Joseph Blasko as its next general counsel and corporate secretary.

Blasko officially joined LanzaTech Jan. 4, the company said.

"Joe brings extensive public company experience to LanzaTech that will be critical as we enter the next stage of the company's growth. We look forward to accelerating and scaling our carbon transformation solution to change how the world procures, uses and disposes of carbon."

Blasko previously worked for Ireland-based James Hardie Industries P.L.C., where he was in charge of the global legal and compliance department. Prior to that he worked as general counsel of Liebert Corp. and has served in senior posts with Scotts Miracle-Gro Co.

Since its inception in 2014, LanzaTech has used proprietary technology to transform waste carbon (using carbon-hungry bacteria) into sustainable fuels, fabrics, packaging and other products.
