BARBERTON, Ohio—The Northeast Ohio-based manufacturing subsidiary for R.D. Abbott Co. Inc., NovationSi, has named Brian Swanton as director of process engineering.
The hiring took effect Jan. 21, according to R.D. Abbott, a material science, engineering and distribution company based in Garden Grove, Calif.
Swanton will work with R.D. Abbott materials and application engineers to "solve tough industry problems."
"Brian's vast knowledge of our LSR and HCR material—combined with his considerable experience in product development, commercialization and product quality—make him an excellent addition to our growing NovationSi team," said Bob Bradley, president of NovationSi.
Swanton brings nearly three decades of silicone experience, including stints with Dow (senior industry specialist) and Dupont (senior process engineer).
He also worked as a process engineer for Dow Corning in LSR and HCR.
Swanton has been issued numerous patents and has "developed or scaled up at least 40 products," representing a minimum of $100 million in annual sales.
Besides HCR and LSR, NovationSi focuses on modifiers, additives and colors for silicone, and highly specialized elastomer products.
