DARMSTADT, Germany—Vibracoustic A.G. has named Axel Wersel chief operating officer.
Wersel, 52, stepped into the newly created position Jan. 1, assuming responsibility for operations and supply chain management. Most recently, Wersel was executive vice president of the RIDE Solutions business unit at Vibracoustic, overseeing air springs for light vehicles, chassis mounts micro cellular polyurethane and commercial vehicle applications.
"Axel is a highly qualified manager with deep technical expertise and knowledge of the automotive rubber industry," Vibracoustic CEO Frank Mueller said in a statement. "He will be a strong addition to the management board and will support our future growth and further increase our cost and operational efficiency."
Wersel joined Vibracoustic in 1995 and was named head of process engineering in 1998, managing the industrialization of new products and driving process optimization.
He later was named business area manager, overseeing chassis products. In this role, Wersel's efforts led to "expansion of the global Vibracoustic footprint by establishing R&D centers and production facilities in China, Mexico, the U.S. and South Africa," according to the company.
