MELKSHAM, U.K.—Avon Protection P.L.C.'s Paul McDonald is stepping down from his position after five years at the helm of the United Kingdom group and 19 years with the Melksham-based manufacturer.
In a May 24 announcement, Avon Chairman Bruce Thompson said McDonald will be stepping down at the close of the group's financial year at the end of September.
Beyond this date, he said, McDonald has agreed to make himself available to support the transition to a new CEO.
A search will be initiated to identify a successor with the skill set to manage "the complex challenges and opportunities ahead," Thompson added.
McDonald was appointed as Avon CEO in February 2017 following the unexpected departure of former CEO Rob Rennie.
Prior to his appointment, McDonald was divisional managing director of Avon's dairy division and a member of the group executive management team.
He joined the Avon Rubber in 2003 and spent the early part of his career at Avon in commercial and operational roles. This included responsibility for all U.K. operations and the European protection and defense and dairy business units.
