KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia—The Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries has appointed Toh Heng Guan as secretary general for a three-year term ending in 2026.
He was nominated by Singapore and succeeds R.B. Premadasa, whose tenure ended December 2022.
Toh Heng Guan—also an honorary advisor to the Rubber Traders Association of Singapore—served as senior officer, standard and conformation at the ASEAN secretariat from 2018-22, where he extended standards from automotive sector to rubber- and wood-based products.
He holds an M.A. in Southeast Asian studies from the National University of Singapore and circular economy and sustainability strategies qualification from the University of Cambridge.
"I look very much forward to positive and productive dialogues in (the) future," the new secretary general said in a statement, "and will always seek to support our stakeholders and enable collaboration in any way that I can."
