DURBAN, South Africa—Sumitomo Rubber South Africa (SRSA) has hired Anca Priscu as group production director to lead strategy development at the tire manufacturer's Ladysmith, South Africa, plant.
Sumitomo, which makes Dunlop, Sumitomo and Falken tire brands on the African continent, looks to "maximize shareholder value for the group" with Priscu's hire, which was made official Oct. 20.
"We are delighted to welcome Anca into the company as we continue to deliver on fair price, fair value, quality and safety for both direct customers and end consumers," said SRSA CEO Lubin Ozoux. "Trained as a mechanical engineer and with vast experience in a wide range of positions including CEO, she has a proven track record for transforming companies into high performers."
Priscu brings decades of expertise to the position, according to Sumitomo, including 15 years with Gabriel South Africa, where she concluded her tenure there as general manager; with Rheinmetall Laingsdale, where she served as CEO; and most recently as an independent consultant with Norcros SA, before coming to SRSA in August 2021.
A South African immigrant, Priscu earned a master's degree in fine mechanical engineering from the Polytechnic University of Bucharest.
