Bridgestone Americas' commitment to diversity garners award

NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Trucking, traditionally, has been a male-dominated industry. That's slowly changing. And as it does, Redefining the Road, the official magazine of Women In Trucking, is recognizing those companies that are among the best for women to work for.

This year, Bridgestone Americas was among those firms earning a spot in the magazine's 2022 Top Companies for Women to Work For in Transportation.

"We are honored to receive this distinction," Ebonee Davis Ifeobu, vice president of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Bridgestone Americas, said in a statement. "I am so proud of our teammates and leaders for relentlessly seeking solutions to ensure our company culture promotes accessibility and dignity for all."

Companies making the list were expected to demonstrate a number of characteristics, according to Brian Everett, group publisher and editorial director of Redefining the Road. These included corporate cultures that foster gender diversity; competitive compensation and benefits; flexible hours and work requirements; professional development opportunities; and career advancement opportunities.

Those companies nominated for inclusion on the list were reviewed to ensure that they met the minimum requirements for the award. Those meeting qualification were voted on by individuals throughout the industry.

This year's list of commercial freight transportation marketplace companies hailed from motor carriers, third-party logistics, and original equipment manufacturers. Those named to the list will be honored at the WIT Accelerate! Conference & Expo Nov. 13-16 in Dallas.

"As competent, talented women continue to rise through the ranks in the transportation industry, we are excited to feature the companies that make the strategic effort to attract and retain a more gender-diverse work force," Everett said. "This distinction of their impressive efforts legitimizes the recognition they deserve."
