COLOGNE, Germany—The organizers of Tire Cologne have postponed the 2020 event, scheduled for June 9-12 in Cologne, until May 2021, in light of the spreading health threat posed by the coronavirus.
Event organizer Koelnmesse G.m.b.H. said it decided to decided to postpone the trade fair after "in-depth consultation and in agreement" with the event's co-sponsor, the BRV/Bundesverband Reifenhandel & Vulkaniseur-Handwerk e.V. (German Tyre Retail & Vulcanization Trade Association).
Koelnmesse's decision also reflects the agreement reached March 16 between the German federal government and the governments of the German states laying down common guidelines for dealing with the coronavirus epidemic. These guidelines called for the canceling of trade fairs and exhibitions.
This move impairs the planning security for Koelnmesse and the participants of the trade fairs in Cologne far beyond the scope of the current scenarios. As such, the Koelnmesse management team has decided not to organize any events until the end of June.
Koelnmesse said making this decision now will provide exhibitors and visitors of The Tire Cologne with "planning security."
The event's new dates are May 18-20, 2021, at the Cologne Fair Grounds.
