WEST CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa.—Standards group ASTM International is canceling all in-person meetings previously scheduled for April.
The move comes "in light of COVID-19 (coronavirus) and ongoing safety concerns for members and staff," the group said.
Cancellation includes in-person standards development meetings as well as independent meetings, ASTM said.
The group considered information from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the World Health Organization and other groups in making the decision. The organization also noted input from members "whose organizations are increasingly concerned with travel" as well as restrictions in place in cities where meetings were to take place.
ASTM staff and committee leaders now will discuss alternatives to conduct business.
Status for committee meetings is available at astm.org/meetings. Additional resources are at astm.org/updates/committees.
