GURGAON, India—Apollo Tyres has reached more than 1 million people through a COVID-19 campaign to increase awareness about the virus and the precautions needed to prevent its spread.
The program was part of Apollo's efforts to support communities and stakeholders across multiple states of India during the disruption caused by COVID-19, Apollo chairman Onkar S. Kanwar announced Aug. 20.
Apollo provided ration support and hygiene kits for more than 10,000 families in the crisis situation and ensured that families around India's slum areas had a supply of cooked food.
The tire maker also ensured that medicines were available to TB patients and arranged for supply of nutritious food to patients affected by the condition.
"The COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact all of us," Kanwar said in earlier comments. "We don't know how long the uncertainties around this pandemic will continue and therefore being safe is the need of the hour."
