INDIANAPOLIS—The coronavirus outbreak has led to the cancelation of another trade show: the American Mold Builders Association's AMBA Conference 2020.
The conference had been scheduled for April 29-May 1 in Indianapolis, AMBA's headquarters city.
In a March 18 release, AMBA officials said they are moving forward with an online event on April 30.
AMBA cited the health and welfare of its members, their families and the overall mold building industry as its greatest concern, underscoring the board's decision to cancel the conference in 2020, instead of postponing it until later in the year.
Other industry events already scheduled for the fall season also made it hard to find a good alternative date this year, AMBA said.
"Although we are disappointed that our members and other industry professionals will not be able to meet as an entire group at the conference, the safety of our membership is paramount," said Kym Conis, AMBA managing director. "We look forward to the opportunity to introduce new value-driven virtual opportunities where members can connect, share and impact their bottom lines."
AMBA has created a COVID-19 resource hub for members, which includes upcoming webinars and company procedures.
The mold makers trade association will hold a webinar March 19 on COVID-19 updates, covering current guidance surrounding employee leave and pay, including any federal legislation. Other topics will include employment issues such as what you can ask employees, how you should change your business practices and what to consider if layoffs or furloughs are necessary. The webinar is free to AMBA members and costs $50 for non-members.
ABMA's 2021, post-coronavirus event is set for Feb. 17-19 in Grand Rapids, Mich.
AMBA plans to continue with other events planned for later this year, including a Leadership Experience for young professionals and other plant tours and workshops.
