PAWTUCKET, R.I.—Teknor Apex Co. has released a new generation of thermoplastic elastomers.
The firm said its Monprene OM compounds exhibit improved bond strength when overmolded to rigid polymers used in a variety of industries, including consumer product, small appliance, power tool and other components requiring a soft/hard material combination.
Four series of standard grades are available. Teknor Apex said each can adhere to specific substrate materials, and the firm also can develop custom formulations to meet customer requirements.
The grades include: Monprene OM-19300, which his designed for adhesion to polystyrene and styrenic copolymers and ranges from Shore A 30-70 hardness; Monprene OM-19400, in hardness ranging from Shore A 40-70, can be overmolded onto a range of thermoplastic substrates; Monprene OM-19100 brings a low compression set and ranges from 40-70 Shore A hardness; and Monprene OM-19100V, designed for overmolding onto nylon 6, 66, 12 and more ranging from 65 Shore A to 40 Shore D.
