SOLON, Ohio—Saint-Gobain is launching a new Tygon tubing product designed specifically for cold beverage dispensing applications.
Tygon S3 B-44-5X IB is a clear, reinforced tubing compliant with both FDA and EU food additive and contact regulations.
Lightweight and easy to handle, Tygon S3 B-44-5X IB tubing readily bends around corners and obstructions, requiring minimal couplings and fittings, Saint-Gobain said in a statement.
Its flexibility can save up to 30 percent of the footage and much of the labor required to install rigid stainless steel, glass tubing or piping, the company added.
The tubing has a smooth, non-porous inner bore, making it virtually taste and odor-free. It is resistant to harsh alkaline cleaners and unaffected by commonly used sanitizers. The tubing resists particle entrapment and resulting bacterial growth, Saint-Gobain said.
"Its excellent non-wetting properties facilitate complete drainage and increase the overall effectiveness of cleaning, making it the ideal choice in food, beverage, dairy and other bacterial-sensitive applications," the company said.
The tubing is able to withstand up to four times the pressure of non-reinforced tubing and offers improved flexibility at sub-zero temperatures. The tubing can be used for water lines for beverage dispensing equipment, ice cream dispensing equipment and frozen beverage dispensing machines (smoothies, shakes, and slushies).
The tubing works with Saint-Gobain's ReSeal reusable sanitary fittings.
