PROVIDENCE, R.I.—Mahr Inc. introduced its MarSurf GD series for roughness measurements to its line of surface measuring instruments.
The new series of products enables profile and waviness evaluations to be carried out in addition to surface roughness evaluations, according to a Mahr release.
The series increases the speed of all moving axes to reduce the cycle time of the measurement process, which according to Mahr, allows for more throughput.
Mahr added that the systems perform up to 40 times faster than predecessors and that all Z-axis columns on the measuring stands are fully CNC-capable with speeds of up to five times faster than standard Z-axes.
The GD series is available in sizes of 140 mm and 280 mm. Mahr said the 280 mm measuring station allows for measurement of larger parts or a series of smaller parts staged together, all on the same machine.
Mahr said MarSurf GD series products are equipped with MarWin Easy Roughness software, and many operations can be performed right out of the box, such as creating instructional user interfaces to guide a user through the steps of a specific measurement.
The GD series features a large mounting plate with a 50 mm bore pattern, 60 mm Y adjustment and Z-axis of 350 mm or 600 mm, Mahr said. It is available with standard probe arm lengths up to 135 mm for measuring ranges up to 1.5 mm vertically, and is also capable of measuring contour features such as radius, angle or depth within that range.
