TOKYO—Japanese rubber maker Denka Corp. has launched a new grade of high heat- and oil-resistant acrylic elastomer, particularly for automotive applications.
Designed for use in automotive hoses and gaskets, the new Denka ER grade has resistance to high temperature of up to 190° C, Denka said in a news release. The company said it achieved such a high temperature range by "applying and deepening" polymer design technology along with precision polymerization and compounding technologies.
The Japanese supplier launched its Denka ER elastomers at the DKT 2018 rubber event in Nuremberg, Germany.
The newest grade has an improved heat resistance—from 180 degrees to 190 degrees—and the product offers "well-balanced properties of elongation and hardness," the company said a Feb. 12 statement.
Denka said the new product has been developed as part of its "value-up" growth strategy, which aims to accelerate the growth of speciality businesses and shift its business portfolio.
