DARMSTADT, Germany—Vibracoustic is taking a little more noise, vibration and harshness out of battery electric vehicles with two of its latest product offerings.

The company's integrated thermoplastic elastomer bushings and compact polymer beam structure help auto makers achieve weight reduction targets, while offering simplification of assembly. Additionally both products meet OEM requirements for stiffness and isolation performance and come with differing levels of integration.

Vibracoustic's TPE bushing with double isolation acts as a damper.

"Focused on meeting new OEM requirements for EDU (electric drive unit) mounting, Vibracoustic's engineers have developed a modular motor mount bracket and a highly-integrated beam mounting structure for BEVs," the company said in a news release.

The modular, light-weight motor mount bracket uses a TPE bushing with double isolation for improved efficiency as the entire part acts as a damper. Because of the dual-injection production technique used to manufacture the part, the bushing can be tailored to desired stiffness through changes in its geometry.

Vibracoustic's polymer “beam” structure can provide a weight savings of up to 25 percent.

The second technology—the lightweight and company composite or polymer "beam" structure—uses the same TPE bushings and double isolation technology, but takes NVH management optimization farther, Vibracoustic said, noting that it can provide a weight savings of up to 25 percent. And because the product is smaller than its comparable alternatives it leads to reduced costs, including those associated with assembly, thanks to its simplified assembly offerings.

"The engineering team was also able to integrate a TPE damper mass into the beam's construction, further optimizing NVH without compromising packaging," Vibracoustic said.
