KIYOSU, Japan—Toyoda Gosei Co. Ltd. has disclosed a new environmental target for 2030 in a bid to increase sustainability efforts across its production operations.
The Japanese automotive supplier aims to lower CO2 emissions by 43 percent throughout the next decade compared to the 2015 baseline, a company statement said. The target is a mid-way strategy to achieve zero emissions by 2050, a goal that was set out in Toyoda Gosei's TG2020 Environmental Challenge in 2015.
Phased measures are being taken in two areas: to reduce energy consumption by eliminating energy loss at plants; and to increase the use of solar power and other forms of renewable energy.
Toyoda Gosei said it is studying new production technologies, downsizing machinery and introducing energy-saving equipment as part of the effort to reduce energy loss at its factories.
