LUXEMBOURG—SaarGummi Group was recognized with a Daimler Supplier Award in the quality category of the Mercedes Benz cars and vans division after managing a smooth production start for the seals material group.

SaarGummi delivers the entire sealing package for Mercedes-Benz A- and B-Class vehicles. The supplier says it oversees multiple production sites of body seals for the cars with a focus on customer requirements and flexible handling of modifications to the body shell and doors.

This project is one of the most important success stories within SaarGummi, according to a group news release, which says five of its 18 production sites on three continents were involved. Employees in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, China and Mexico, coordinated the project and stuck to schedules through good communication and cooperation, the release said.

Saar Gummi was the only supplier to receive the Daimler quality award in the Mercedes Benz division. CEO Larry Johnson represented the group and accepted a trophy given out for good cooperation between partners.

"The message is talking about collaboration," Johnson said in a statement. "We just launched the A- and B- Class on a global basis in China, Europe and Mexico. What helped was the collaboration between SaarGummi and Daimler's departments purchase, R&D, engineering, quality and most important the operations. We were able to make changes quickly and to assure that the quality that we supply is picture perfect."

SaarGummi Group is an affiliate of CQLT Group, which is a Chinese state-owned enterprise that says it has more than 7,200 employees in North and South America, Asia, and Europe. The enterprise serves the construction and process solutions markets in addition to automotive.
