AKRON—In the midst of change lies opportunity.

And as the automotive industry undergoes one of its most profound transformations, opportunities are emerging for the rubber industry.

During her keynote presentation on the first day of the Rubber in Automotive Conference, Karen Schwartz, Michelin North America Inc. vice president of marketing for business to business, will explore some of those opportunities as they relate to hydrogen technology development.

Schwartz will provide insights into the hydrogen technology that Michelin has built with its partner Faurecia S.E. through their joint venture, Symbio. In doing so, she will expound on the impact the technology could have on the automotive industry overall, and the role that rubber plays as the technology emerges.

Schwartz joined Michelin in 2018 as North American B2B Marketing Director for Michelin's on-road business, bringing 15 years of brand management experience to her role from her time at Procter & Gamble.

Before stepping into her current role, Schwartz served as global managing director for the Digital Services Platform Group at Michelin, which is housed within the Services and Solutions Global Business Line. There she was responsible for leading a SaaS "Start-up" team.

The biennial Rubber in Automotive conference, organized by Rubber News, is set for May 10-11 and will be hosted at the Akron/Fairlawn Hilton. Registration is open and can be made online.

Early bird registration, which provides a $100 savings on registration fees, is available until March 17.
