Michelin launches new line of power transmission products

CLERMONT-FERRAND, France—Michelin said it is making it possible for do-it-yourselfers and other private automotive technicians to have access to the same quality of drive belts, idlers and tensioners as OEMs.

Michelin recently launched the new line of belts and related power transmission components, available through Amazon, according to the company.

The products focus on "performance, endurance and safety," the company said.

"As a leader in sustainable mobility, Michelin's power transmission products are fully tested to deliver optimal efficiency and longevity," said Tom Jupena, director of lifestyle products for Michelin North America. "Michelin performed an extensive range of quality tests to ensure these products meet or exceed the original equipment manufacturer's premium quality standards."

Michelin said its serpentine belts are manufactured with EPDM rubber, employing a "Smart Stretch" design to provide a low-noise and low maintenance, as well as reduced CO2 emissions.

Similarly, Michelin said its idlers and tensioners also reduce vibration, wear and friction, "assuring proper belt tension for the same service life as OE components" and "delivering optimal efficiency and ensuring drivers are protected from the road contaminants that often shorten the life of inferior products," the company said.

Michelin's new power transmission products are manufactured by Steigentech Group and distributed in the U.S. and Canada by International Brake Industries.
