KASSEL, Germany—Hubner Group, along with its subsidiary Gummi-Welz GmbH, has extended its intelligent anti-trap door sealing systems to be used for a wide variety of protective profiles.
In a Sept. 6 statement, the German components manufacturer said it had now enhanced its product portfolio in the field of elastomer seals and optimized profile cross-sections. In addition, the group has adapted its production processes so that the new SensIQ product family can be used for a broader variety of protective profiles.
SensIQ contact, a safety device that can be integrated into finger protection profiles in vehicle doors, is a central component of the new product family.
"When a person or object comes in contact with the safety contact strip, a switching pulse is generated that causes the door to remain open," said Christoph Heuser, head of the Hubner business unit material solutions rail and bus.
The protective profile also provides anti-trap detection even when doors have closed, so if a person or object is caught, the door opens again automatically.
"This gives optimum protection for people in the boarding area of buses and trains," Heuser added.
Made out of EPDM rubber SensIQ contact also has a high level of environmental resistance and provides an "optimal balance" with the silicone rubber in the profiles.
According to Huebner, SensIQ contact is easy to install.
"Flush end moldings in the profiles allow for quick installation and a tighter, more sensitive design for the switching chambers," the group said.
