SAN FRANCISCO—Formant, an autonomous robotics software company, recently shored up $18 million in its Series A funding round, drawing attention and support from eight investors, including Goodyear.
Goodyear Ventures—a venture capital fund through which Goodyear plans to invest $100 million—has joined a group of seven other investors in this round of funding. Led by SignalFire, the investing group also includes Hillsven, Pelion, Thursday Ventures, Ericsson, Picus Capital and Holman Strategic Ventures.
The size of the Goodyear Ventures investment was not disclosed.
"The #GoodyearVentures team is thrilled to support the work of Formant to help empower the next generation of robotics automation and learn about the advancement of robotics in mobility," Goodyear said in a LinkedIn post about the investment.
Launched by a team of former Google, Saviok and Redwood Robotics software engineers, roboticists and product managers, Formant is focused on pushing the limits of autonomous robotics through three key areas: improved remote control operations, analysis for performance evaluation and improvement and observation of real-time fleet monitoring.
