NORTHVILLE, Mich.—Evolution is a funny thing, especially for a company like Cooper-Standard Automotive Inc.
Because it's clear that the automotive industry's evolution is forcing suppliers to adapt—requiring them to change their materials, products and perspectives to meet the demands of a greener, more sustainable industry.
And that's an interesting prospect for Cooper-Standard, which provides sealing and fluid handling products to auto makers, because the transition impacts each side of its business differently.
Part of its business—sealing—will remain in high demand as the industry transitions to electric vehicles. As Chris Couch—the company's senior vice president, and chief technology and procurement officer—points out: "even electric vehicles have doors and windows, so they need sealings the same way."
Well, mostly the same anyway.
