GREENVILLE, S.C.—Michelin North America Inc. has rolled out Michelin E-Wild, an electric mountain bike tire designed to provide strength and performance while helping to conserve battery life.
Modeled on downhill racing prototypes, Michelin claims the E-Wild can handle "tough impacts on rough terrain," while providing resiliency, strength and the ability to run at low pressures. E-Wild is available in front and rear tire sizes—27.5x 2.6 mm and 27.5x2.8 mm. The front tire casings, which are identical to the company's Enduro line, provide grip for downhill riding, the tire maker said.
"Michelin E-Wild tires enable e-mountain bike riders to go farther and faster with maximum time on the trail," Shane Messner, Michelin director of two-wheel for North America, said in a statement. "The latest generation of innovative compounds maximizes tread life and provides outstanding and efficient power transfer through the rear tire."
