MEXICO CITY—Engel de Mexico, part of Austria-based injection press and robot maker Engel Holding GmbH, has opened a second location in Mexico, in San Pedro near Monterrey, a center of the automotive, packaging, telecommunications and consumer electronics industries.
At Plastimagen, Engel de Mexico is exhibiting at booth 514.
Engel opened a sales and service subsidiary in 1996. In 2010, Engel moved the facility from Mexico City to Queretaro and expanded the operation.
Engel announced the San Pedro facility on March 26. The two facilities are about 500 miles apart. Each is located in industrial centers.
"We are thus shortening the distance to our customers in the very important industrial region in the north of the country," said Peter Auinger, managing director of Engel in Mexico.
Initially, San Pedro is staffed by two sales people and four service technicians. The center has a conference room for customer training.
During the inauguration at San Pedro, Auinger made a live broadcast to Queretaro using the Engel service tool called e-connect.24. He switched on an injection molding machine in the technical center there. The CC300 control was then transferred in real time to San Pedro, allowing technicians to take over control the machine remotely from there.
Engel employs about 70 people in Mexico.
