WILMINGTON, Del.—Renault Sport Racing and DuPont, the DowDuPont specialty products division, have entered a multi-year technical partnership to advance the Formula 1 and other racing programs.
The collaboration will target new technologies, beginning with hybrid and electric powertrain solutions, DuPont said in March 28 statement. Focus areas include structural adhesives for thermal management of batteries, and materials for power, infrastructure and signal electronics.
The partners also will seek to enhance the contribution of high-performance materials to lightweighting and fuel efficiency of the racing cars. DuPont also went on to cite the application of its Kevlar fiber in tire cords and F1 car bodywork.
The two companies then aim to extend the developed technologies to consumer and road-car applications.
Last year, DuPont launched its AHEAD (accelerating hybrid-electric autonomous driving) initiative.
The initiative, said DuPont, will play a "key role" in the technical partnership with the Renault F1 Team.
